30th Anniversary

30th Anniversary

Celebrating 30 Years of
Community, Connection, and Camp Magic

While camping on the Wenonah property began in 1965 with Camp Oak-a-Lea, Wenonah’s own story started in the mid-1990s and has grown into a thriving community grounded in belonging, learning, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. To mark this milestone, the 30th Anniversary season will feature 30 special initiatives throughout the year that honour our history, celebrate our community, and look ahead to Wenonah’s future.

Those who are FOW members have a real connectedness to Camp. Each year, the FOW group grows as new members are invited. Most FOW members worked at least three years on the staff team at Camp, are a minimum age of 21 years and/or have made a significant contribution to Camp, and have a demonstrated interest and intent to remain involved with Wenonah in the future.

FOW members play a significant role at Camp each year. Many provide support by helping with new staff interviews, lending a hand with Camp Fairs or even working part of Summer Camp, joining the staff team for a Women’s Weekend, leading POLARIS canoe trips, and helping with opening or closing weekends at Camp. Many also return to Camp and stay connected with Camp friends through special events.

There is a incredible community that is developed through our FOW group. What many people have realized is that when they leave Camp, they can still have a very real attachment to it through FOW.

Celebrate with us!

A sneak peek at just a few of the initiatives in place for 2026

Wenonah’s 30th Anniversary season includes 30 special initiatives throughout 2026, designed to engage campers, staff, Wenonah families, Friends of Wenonah, and everyone who shares a special connection to our community.

At Camp

“Throwback Thirty”

We’re reintroducing favourite programs from years past, including Singing Rock (pre-dinner sing-song), the Around the Lake Swim Challenge, YADRUTAS (backwards day), the Wenonah Book of Records, and the “Where in the World at Wenonah?” photo challenge. We are celebrating the traditions that helped shape Camp!

A special concert series will take place during July and August Camps, featuring talented performers from Wenonah’s current and alumni communities bringing music, celebration, and Camp magic to Summer evenings.

A brand-new welcome sign will greet campers, families, staff, and visitors in 2026 setting the tone for arrival at Wenonah and marking this milestone year.

In Spring 2026, we’ll plant 30 trees onsite at Camp to honour our anniversary and reflect Wenonah’s deep connection to the natural world and environmental stewardship.

Beyond Camp

Sunday, May 3, 2026 - Wenonah 30th Anniversary Luncheon

Please join us for a special 30th Anniversary Luncheon at the Oakville Conference Centre, bringing together members of our community to reflect, reconnect, and celebrate three decades of Camp.

The day begins with a quiet Morning Watch at 11:00 am, featuring coffee and light pastries, followed by a warm welcome and the start of the program at noon. Guests will enjoy a buffet lunch at 12:30 pm, with a formal program beginning at 1:45 pm that highlights Wenonah’s past, present, and future. A silent auction runs throughout the afternoon and close at the conclusion of the formal program at 2:45 pm.

This gathering is an opportunity to share stories, honour the people who have shaped Wenonah, and celebrate the community that continues to make Camp such a meaningful place.

Taking place in early May 2026, our Silent Auction will feature an exciting collection of items donated by members of the Wenonah community, including trips, event tickets, and a special community artwork initiative. All proceeds will support our 30th Anniversary capital campaign.

Wenonah is proud to partner with the Amici Children’s Camp Charity. Our goal for 2026 is to field 30 paddlers in Amici’s annual Canoe Heads for Kids fundraiser on May 23 to help send kids with financial need to Ontario summer camps.

Continuing a cherished tradition, Wenonah will once again support a community initiative in 2026. This time, we are focused in the immediate Muskoka area where we are giving back to the region that has been home to Camp for generations.

With Wenonah alumni, families, and friends spanning more than 60 countries, this global challenge will connect our community through shared movement and friendly competition—no matter where in the world you call home.

Join the Wenonah community for a night at Toronto Blue Jays baseball! On Tuesday, May 26, we’ve reserved pods in the Jays Nest at Rogers Centre to watch the American League Champions take on the Miami Marlins. A fun, relaxed evening to connect, cheer, and celebrate 30 years of Wenonah together.

A dedicated alumni committee is crafting a chronological history of Wenonah, capturing the moments, milestones, and memories that have shaped our community over the past 30 years.

Friends of Wenonah alumni should already be receiving email updates about alumni events by invitation. If you’re not seeing these messages or would like more information, please reach out to Jeff, who would be happy to help.

"Pledge a Plank"

30th Anniversary Capital Campaign

As part of Wenonah’s 30th Anniversary celebrations, we are raising funds to support the construction of a new swim dock on Clear Lake. The new dock will be a space designed to serve campers and visitors for years to come.

The new dock replaces the current swim docks and feature a 96-foot wide by 76-foot long layout, including two distinct swim pools and a long ramp connecting the dock to shore. Its thoughtful, multifunctional design allows multiple groups to use the space at the same time, supporting both recreational swims and instructional programming for campers and community members of all swim levels.

More than just a dock, this project reflects Wenonah’s commitment to safety, skill development, and shared experiences on the water. It is a place where confidence grows, friendships form, and Camp memories are made.

By contributing, you’re helping bring this vision to life. All donors will be permanently acknowledged at Camp, creating a lasting tribute to the Wenonah community members who helped build the next chapter of our story.

Your support is an investment in the next 30 years of swims, learning, laughter, and Camp magic.
